O Sol da Caparica festival begins with water conservation measures

The 11th edition of the O Sol da Caparica festival is taking place from August 13 to 16 at the Parque Urbano da Costa da Caparica. The event celebrates Lusophone music, featuring a diverse lineup that includes artists such as Maiara & Maraisa, Calema, Slow J, Papillon, and Orochi, spanning genres from pop and hip hop to afro-house and electronic music.

In response to a recent water supply crisis in the Almada municipality, which triggered a water alert status through August 31, organizers have implemented strict sustainability measures to reduce potable water consumption. These measures include using non-potable water for structure ballast, increasing the number of chemical toilets, and installing flow reducers. Artistic director André Sardet noted that the festival aims to maintain responsible resource use without disrupting local supply, estimating a total consumption of 700 cubic meters over the four days.
