Portugal hosts wine harvest experiences and festivals

Portugal is hosting several wine-related events and harvest experiences across its prominent wine regions. In the Monção and Melgaço sub-region of Vinhos Verdes, the Alvarinho grape harvest has begun earlier than usual, starting in the second week of August. The ‘Rota do Alvarinho’ offers various enotourism experiences, including grape picking at Soalheiro, day and night harvest programs at Quinta da Torre, and a combined wine and thermal spa experience at the Quintas de Melgaço.

In S. João da Pesqueira, the Vindouro – Wine & History | Festa Pombalina event will take place from September 4 to 6. This festival celebrates the Alto Douro Vinhateiro region through wine tastings, gastronomy, and 18th-century historical reenactments. The event features a wine salon with hundreds of Douro and Porto producers, the ‘Douro em Prova’ competition, and musical performances by artists including Rui Veloso, Carolina Deslandes, and Richie Campbell.
