Portugal housing bank appraisals show regional growth in July
Data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE) shows varying trends in Portuguese housing bank appraisals for July. In the Alentejo region, median bank valuations rose by 1.6% compared to June, the highest monthly increase in the country. Specifically, Alentejo apartments saw a significant year-on-year increase of 25.3%, reaching a median of 1,778 euros per square meter. Houses in the region also grew by 1.9% monthly to 1,300 euros per square meter.
In Madeira, the median bank valuation was 2,598 euros per square meter, representing a slight monthly decrease of 0.4% but a substantial annual increase of 16.3%. Funchal recorded the highest values in the region at 2,833 euros per square meter. Nationally, the median bank valuation for housing in Portugal stood at 2,240 euros per square meter, a 0.5% increase from June and a 15.2% rise compared to the previous year.
