Portugal infrastructure updates: Lisbon Metro and Oeste railway developments

The Portuguese government is evaluating a potential expansion of the Lisbon Metro circular line. While the circular line is scheduled to be operational by the first quarter of 2027, officials are studying a loop configuration that could serve as a complement to the initial design. Implementing this loop would require an additional 18 million euros, including 10 million for signaling adjustments and 8 million for network readjustments, potentially adding 18 months to the operational model.

In separate transport news, the Oeste railway line is set to resume train services between Torres Vedras and Caldas da Rainha on the 15th. This follows a nine-month suspension caused by severe weather during Storm Kristin. While this section is reopening after infrastructure repairs, train services remain suspended between Mira Sintra/Meleças and Torres Vedras, where replacement bus services will continue to operate.
