Portugal launches €182.5 m innovation grant and €2 m agriculture support scheme

The Portuguese government announced a €182.5 million competition to fund productive innovation for micro‑enterprises and SMEs across the country. The programme, managed by Compete 2030 and regional funds (Norte 2030, Centro 2030, Lisboa 2030, Alentejo 2030, Algarve 2030), can cover up to 60 % of eligible costs, with higher rates in low‑density territories to boost cohesion and job creation. Eligible projects include new facilities, a 25 % capacity increase, or diversification of production, and applications are open until 30 September 2026.

Separately, the Madeira regional administration will open a €2 million call for proposals under the PEPAC program to modernise small‑scale agriculture. Up to €1.57 million of public funding, supplemented by private co‑investment, will be offered as grants covering up to 70 % of project costs, targeting irrigation tanks, water‑saving systems and other climate‑resilient technologies. Applications will be submitted digitally starting tomorrow, with outreach sessions planned across the islands.
