Portugal launches multiple youth environmental volunteering programmes

Municipalities in Portugal have opened applications for several youth volunteering initiatives focused on environmental protection. In Nisa, the Volunteering Youth for Nature and Forests programme for 2026 invites residents aged 17–30 to conduct forest monitoring from the Torre da Porta de Montalvão, with two daily shifts covering weekends and holidays from 1 July to 13 September.

The town of Paredes also launched its 2026 Volunteering Youth for Nature and Forest programme, targeting participants aged 16–30. Volunteers will work across seven local parishes, receiving a daily allowance of €13 for each day of service between 13 July and 4 September.

Separately, the National Centre for Iberian Lynx Reproduction in Silves announced four volunteer positions for August–October and five for November–January 2027. Volunteers will assist the ethology and video‑surveillance team in observing lynx cub behaviour, with free accommodation and a €6 meal allowance per eight‑hour shift.
