Portugal launches national road safety campaign “No excuses”
The National Road Safety Authority (ANSR) began a summer road‑safety campaign titled “No excuses” that runs from 31 July to 6 September, a period of heavy traffic. The campaign warns drivers against fatigue, speeding, alcohol and mobile‑phone use, using TV, radio, digital platforms, beach‑side aerial ads and LED panels at fuel stations. It is supported by 311 partners, including municipalities, public agencies and civil‑society organisations.
Separately, toll‑operator Ascendi released the third edition of its “Learn from those who know” campaign, aimed at experienced drivers. The initiative uses large‑format billboards on highways and urban bus shelters, and is backed by ANSR, the National Republican Guard and the Public Security Police. Both efforts seek to reduce risky driving behaviour and improve road safety during the busy summer travel season.
