Portugal launches public tenders for road rehab and water‑gate replacement projects

Infraestruturas de Portugal announced a public tender worth about €950,000 (plus VAT) to carry out corrective pavement rehabilitation on the IC1 road between Castro Verde and Ourique in the Beja district. The contract, covering sections A558, A559, A208, A632 and A561, includes surface treatment, removal of deformations, resurfacing with recycled materials and renewal of horizontal signage, with a 90‑day execution deadline.

The Portuguese Environment Agency (APA) opened a separate tender valued at €2 million (base price €1.6 million, excluding VAT) to replace the Maria da Mata gate structure on the Pranto River in Alqueidão, near Figueira da Foz. The 12‑month project aims to resolve erosion‑related collapse of the 1944 gate, restore flow regulation between the Pranto and Mondego rivers, and prevent salt‑water intrusion that threatens local rice cultivation, which can cause up to 25 % loss of annual output.

Both tenders are funded through national programmes and intend to improve safety, sustainability and agricultural productivity in their respective regions.
