Portugal launches regional youth cultural programmes in Alentejo and Algarve
The Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth (IPDJ) in Alentejo is inviting local youngsters to take part in a theatrical experience celebrating the 500th anniversary of Luís de Camões. The contemporary play “El Rei Seleuco, iras e divertimentos de Camões” will be staged on 17 and 25 July at the Espaço das Aguncheiras in Sesimbra, with free transport and meals provided for participants.
Meanwhile, the Conservatório Regional do Algarve Maria Campina in Faro is hosting the “Jovens Músicos do Algarve” programme from 1 to 3 July. Around a hundred students from five specialised music schools across the Algarve will engage in rehearsals, workshops and a public concert that concludes the event. Both initiatives aim to bring the arts closer to Portugal’s younger generations and strengthen regional cultural education.
