Celpe-Bras 2026 exam registration opens for foreign candidates
Registrations for the second edition of the 2026 Certificado de Proficiência em Língua Portuguesa para Estrangeiros (Celpe-Bras) opened on 27 July and will close on 6 August at 23:59 Brasília time. Candidates must enroll through the Sistema Celpe‑Bras of the Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacionais Anísio Teixeira (INEP). The suggested fee is R$ 259 for test centres in Brazil and US$ 190 for centres abroad; payment can be made between 27 July and 7 August.
The exams are scheduled for 20‑23 October in Brazil and 24‑27 November for overseas locations. Celpe‑Bras, created in 1994, is a voluntary Portuguese‑language proficiency test for foreign applicants. It is recognised by Brazilian universities and employers for admission, postgraduate programmes and validation of foreign diplomas.
