Portugal launches summer beach season with extensions in Sines, Santiago do Cacém and free amenities in Matosinhos

The official beach season in the Portuguese municipalities of Sines and Santiago do Cacém began on 13 June and will run until 19 September. The nearby beach of São Torpes received a special extension, remaining open to swimmers until 30 September, aiming to attract additional tourists and support local businesses that depend on summer visitors.

In the north, Matosinhos inaugurated its beach season on Saturday and will offer 600 free beach chairs, 600 parasols, 16 loungers and 12 hammocks to bathers, along with upgraded sanitation, accessible signage and lifeguard services. The season there ends on 13 September. The municipality hopes the improvements will enhance comfort, accessibility and environmental quality for residents and tourists alike.
