Portugal marks World Mental Health Day with community initiatives

Various institutions in Portugal marked World Mental Health Day through community awareness activities and institutional visits. In Fafe, the municipality organized an ‘Open Day’ at the Praça da Casa da Cultura, bringing together professionals, partners, and citizens to highlight local mental health services and the importance of humanized intervention.

In the Barcelos region, RECOVERY IPSS conducted an institutional tour of its community responses, including the Integrated Mental Health Continuing Care Unit for Children and Adolescents in Adães and the Recomeço Residential Reintegration Structure in Arcozelo. During these events, RECOVERY IPSS highlighted its international ‘Pathways’ project, conducted in collaboration with organizations in Sweden and Greece. The initiative aims to produce a European Guide of Good Practices in Mental Health to support public policies and community responses.
