Portugal Minister Luís Neves accused of threats in police complaint
Portugal’s Minister of Internal Administration, Luís Neves, is facing a criminal complaint filed with the Judiciary Police (PJ). The complaint was submitted by international security specialist Paulo Dias, who alleges that Neves has engaged in threats, defamation, and persecution over the last three years.
Dias claims that during a meeting this year, Neves opposed his involvement in a project regarding body cameras for police forces, alleging that Dias received money from companies and claiming the minister possessed a compromising dossier on him.
Furthermore, the complaint alleges that Neves used aggressive language, specifically stating intentions to “destroy” and “crush” Admiral Henrique Gouveia e Melo, a former presidential candidate and former Chief of Staff of the Navy. Gouveia e Melo confirmed he was aware of the alleged animosity, stating that “the comments stay with those who make them.”
