Portugal Ministry of Culture seeks local cultural projects for publication

The Portuguese Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport (MCJD) has launched a survey to identify successful cultural measures, programs, and projects developed by local municipalities. Managed by the National Arts Plan (PNA), the initiative aims to gather reference-worthy local initiatives that can inspire or be adapted by other territories.

The selected projects will be compiled into a publication to be presented at the VI Culture Forum, held on December 14 and 15 in Figueira da Foz, under the theme ‘Culture and Local Power’. The goal is to create a knowledge-sharing tool to assist municipalities and sector professionals in defining cultural strategies.

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport Margarida Balseiro Lopes stated that the initiative promotes culture as a factor of territorial cohesion. The PNA will prioritize structural projects with continuity that are integrated into local cultural policies. Selection criteria include territorial impact, community participation, integration with other public life areas, and potential for adaptation to different contexts.
