Portugal Ministry of Health seeks expert opinion on Hospital do Oeste location
The Portuguese Ministry of Health has commissioned an independent opinion from the Ordem dos Engenheiros to assist in deciding the location of the new Hospital do Oeste. This decision follows previous studies and local disputes regarding potential sites, including Bombarral and Caldas da Rainha.
Health Minister Ana Paula Martins stated that three experts from the Ordem dos Engenheiros have already submitted their reports. The Minister intends to consult with local mayors and intermunicipal communities before publicly disclosing the results to ensure transparency in the process. The new hospital is intended to replace existing medical units in Caldas da Rainha, Peniche, and Torres Vedras. The government has reiterated its commitment to advancing the hospital project through a public-private partnership during the current legislature.
