Portugal Ministry of Justice to distribute 24,000 IT devices
Portugal's Ministry of Justice has begun distributing over 24,000 pieces of computer equipment to modernize courts and judicial services. The operation, scheduled to continue until December, involves an investment of €17 million entirely funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan.
The equipment package includes 16,162 laptops, 5,856 desktop computers, and 2,530 monitors. Additionally, the Directorate-General for the Administration of Justice has acquired 9,204 monitors for magistrates, prosecutors, and court officials through a separate €1.9 million investment.
Thirteen judicial bodies will benefit from the upgrade, including the courts, the Judicial Police, Prison Services, the Centre for Judicial Studies, and the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences. The initiative aims to improve system security, provide updated hardware and software, and increase professional mobility by replacing some desktop units with laptops.
