Portugal national exams face technical failures amid university admissions

A report by Deloitte has identified several failures in the administration of Portugal's national secondary school exams. Key issues included poor printing quality that hindered QR code readability, which forced manual corrections and increased the risk of human error. The consultancy also noted problems within the Classification and Supervision Platform used to process digitized exams, specifically regarding multiple-choice question grading.

In a separate development regarding higher education, the Ministry of Education announced that 9,116 students were placed during the second phase of the national access contest, a 3.3% increase from the previous year. Aerospace Engineering remains the highest-rated course with an average score of 19.6. Other top-performing programs include Applied Mathematics for Economics and Management at ISEG, Medicine at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, and Mechanical Engineering.

While major districts like Lisbon and Porto saw nearly 95% of vacancies filled, regions such as Bragança and Évora saw placement rates around 30%. Institutions such as ISCTE in Lisbon and the Estoril School of Hospitality and Tourism achieved full enrollment for all available spots.
