Portugal pela Paz organizes simultaneous walks in ten cities

The civic movement Portugal pela Paz is organizing the IV Peace Walk, a simultaneous event taking place in ten Portuguese cities, including Funchal, Beja, Lisbon, Porto, Coimbra, Braga, Évora, Tavira, Caldas da Rainha, and Horta.

Scheduled for the eve of the International Day of Peace, the initiative begins at 16:30 with a period of silence, meditation, or prayer, followed by a walk conducted in silence. The movement aims to gather individuals of diverse ages, cultures, and convictions to publicly affirm a desire for peace and reject war.

Organizers emphasize that lasting peace depends not only on political and diplomatic decisions but also on individual internal transformation and how people manage differences in daily life. The movement is described as a non-partisan, inclusive, and non-profit civic initiative. For those unable to attend in person, a collective meditation is available online via Zoom.
