Portugal pledges €80 million for Guimarães MetroBus project
The Portuguese government announced an investment of about €80 million for the first phase of the MetroBus rapid‑transit line linking Guimarães with Caldas das Taipas. Prime Minister Luís Montenegro disclosed the funding at the conclusion of a Cabinet meeting in Guimarães, stating the project will be completed by 2030 and will support future integration with the high‑speed rail line via Braga.
The MetroBus aims to improve sustainable mobility, connect urban and regional transport modes and reduce car use in the Vale do Ave region, enhancing the quality of life for local residents.
