Portugal law enforcement detains Interpol fugitive and seizes fuel for narcolanchas

Authorities in Portugal have carried out two significant law enforcement operations involving international crime and drug trafficking logistics.

At Lisbon's Humberto Delgado Airport, the Public Security Police (PSP) detained a 57-year-old man acting on an Interpol Red Notice. Arriving from Miami, USA, under escort, the suspect is accused of aggravated forgery, use of forged documents, and fraud, facing a potential maximum sentence of 26 years in prison.

In a separate operation, the National Republican Guard (GNR) seized 3,750 liters of diesel in Santa Bárbara de Padrões, Alentejo. The fuel was being transported in a rented vehicle by a 45-year-old Spanish national traveling from Badajoz, Spain, toward the Algarve. Authorities believe the fuel was intended to supply "narcolanchas" used by drug trafficking networks for maritime smuggling.
