Portugal Police Detain Kidnapper Trio and Probe Alleged Parliament Office Vandalism

The Portuguese National Police (Polícia Judiciária) arrested two women and a man, aged 29 to 37, in an operation targeting kidnapping, extortion, robbery and assault. The suspects had previously lured a victim with a false job offer in Torres Vedras, held her captive for three hours, and demanded €40,000 from her family. They later returned to the victim’s home in Leiria, assaulting the couple and forcing a further €16,000 transfer.

Separately, the same police unit deployed a team from the National Counter‑Terrorism Unit to the parliamentary office of Chega leader André Ventura after he posted video footage showing an alleged act of vandalism. The scene displayed overturned furniture, opened cabinet doors and documents scattered on the floor. Ventura said he did not know whether any documents were stolen. The investigation remains ongoing.
