Portugal police detain two men for kidnapping, assault and forced apology video in Sintra

Portugal's Judicial Police arrested two men after they broke into a home in Algueirão-Mem Martins, Sintra, on the night of 25 April. The suspects robbed computer equipment worth over €1,500, stole cash, and kidnapped the victim, threatening him with a firearm.

While the victim attempted to flee, the assailants forced him back into the house and compelled him to record a video apologising to his attackers. The men were later identified, detained and placed in preventive custody pending trial.

The case has drawn public attention due to the use of a weapon and the coercion of a recorded apology, highlighting concerns over violent crime and kidnapping in the Lisbon region.
