Portugal polls show preference for stability despite declining presidential approval
Recent public opinion polls in Portugal reveal shifting sentiments regarding the government and the presidency. According to the Intercampus barometer, a majority of Portuguese citizens (58.5%) prefer political stability and do not support early elections, despite dissatisfaction with current management. Only 32.3% of respondents expressed a desire for the country to go to the polls again.
Separately, the DN/Aximage barometer indicates a decline in approval for President António José Seguro. While his overall rating remains favorable with 57% positive evaluations, he has seen his lowest performance levels since his term began. This decline is particularly notable among younger voters aged 18 to 34, where positive evaluations have dropped to less than half. In contrast, the government continues to face significant disapproval, maintaining a negative balance of 30 points with only 27% positive ratings.
