Minas Gerais hosts a flurry of cultural festivals and community programs in July‑August 2026

A series of free public events are slated for Minas Gerais in the summer of 2026, highlighting regional food, heritage and arts.

On 15 August, a public banquet called “Banquetão 2026 – Um Quitandaço” will be held in downtown Belo Horizonte, gathering cooks, activists and civil‑society groups to celebrate the state’s traditional quitandas and to raise concerns about municipal food‑security policy.

From 21 to 30 July, children aged 5‑10 will attend a four‑session forest‑art program at the Parque Lage School of Visual Arts in Rio de Janeiro, exploring the relationship between body, nature and creative invention.

The historic Festa dos Mineiros returns to Santo Antônio do Leite, a district of Ouro Preto, from 31 July to 2 August. The free‑entry celebration features music, theatre, a craft fair and talks that honour the mining heritage that shaped the region.

Ouro Preto’s Museu da Inconfidência will host “Elas no MIN – Segunda Edição” on 24‑25 July, a program dedicated to the contributions of Black women, including a documentary screening, workshops and a cultural market.

From 29‑31 July, the Museu Boulieu runs the free “Curta Boulieu” series for children aged 6‑11, offering guided visits and hands‑on workshops that address imagination, identity and social responsibility.

Finally, the Feira de Malhas de Tricô Sul de Minas will take place at Minascentro in Belo Horizonte from 7‑16 August, marking its 30th anniversary with over 70 textile producers, a showcase of knitwear, and a boost to the local economy that employs a large share of the region’s population.
