Portugal Prime Minister intervenes in Ronaldo national team crisis

Portuguese Prime Minister Luís Montenegro has reportedly intervened following the sudden departure of Cristiano Ronaldo from the Portugal national team camp in Copenhagen. The incident occurred just before a UEFA Nations League match against Denmark.

Ronaldo, 41, decided to leave the squad on September 30 after a press conference by national team coach Jorge Jesus and a discussion with Pedro Pinto, the president of the Portuguese Football Federation. The tension within the team reportedly escalated following a previous match against Norway, where Ronaldo remained on the bench despite warming up.

Prime Minister Montenegro has reportedly sought clarity on the situation by communicating with the key figures involved: Ronaldo, coach Jorge Jesus, and Pedro Pinto. Ronaldo has publicly stated that he will eventually reveal ‘the truth’ regarding the reasons for his departure.
