Portugal school infrastructure: New facilities inaugurated in Guimarães and Oliveira do Bairro

Portuguese officials have inaugurated several school infrastructure projects across the country. In Guimarães, Minister of Education, Science and Innovation Fernando Alexandre inaugurated the rehabilitated sports pavilion and playing field at the Vale de São Torcato Basic School. During the event, Alexandre noted that the school group had pioneered mobile phone bans in 2018. He also announced that schools unable to meet the deadlines for Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) funding may now access financing through the European Investment Bank (EIB).

In Oliveira do Bairro, Secretary of State for Education Alexandre Homem Cristo inaugurated the requalification of the Oliveira do Bairro Secondary School. The project involved an investment exceeding 6 million euros, with 5.4 million euros provided by the PRR. Cristo emphasized the importance of cooperation between the central government and municipalities in modernizing the national school network and indicated that a new school regime is expected to be finalized by the end of the year.
