Portugal sports events to cause traffic disruptions this Sunday

Several sporting events scheduled for Sunday, September 20, will cause significant traffic disruptions and road closures across different regions of Portugal.

In the Loures and Odivelas municipalities, the Loures/Odivelas/Loures Half Marathon will restrict vehicle circulation between 08:40 and 12:00. The PSP has identified multiple affected streets, including Avenida Nicolau Breyner and Avenida das Descobertas in Loures, and Avenida Dom Dinis and Estrada da Paiã in Odivelas. Authorities advise motorists not to park in or near the race route and to follow all instructions from security agents.

In Coimbra, the 2026 Coimbra European Triathlon Cup will impact traffic between 08:00 and 18:30. The event, which expects over a thousand national and international athletes, will necessitate closures on major arteries, including Avenida Inês de Castro and the Ponte de Santa Clara. The Ponte de Santa Clara is scheduled to close in both directions starting at 08:00, with a potential reopening between 12:00 and 14:00 before closing again until approximately 18:30. Local bus lines will also face route alterations and service limitations due to these restrictions.
