Portugal tax authority merges two Lisbon finance offices, opens single office in Vila Franca de Xira

The Autoridade Tributária e Aduaneira (AT) merged two Lisbon finance services – service No. 6 covering Olivais, Parque das Nações, Beato and Marvila, and service No. 9 covering Beato and Marvila – into a single unit. The reorganisation, announced in two decrees published in the Diário da República, is intended to rationalise resources, improve efficiency and maintain a close service for taxpayers.

At the same time AT created a new finance office in Vila Franca de Xira, consolidating the municipality’s tax services into one location that now employs 55 staff and serves the parishes of Vila Franca de Xira, Alhandra, São João dos Montes, Calhandriz, Castanheira do Ribatejo, Cachoeiras, Vialonga, Alverca do Ribatejo, Sobralinho, Póvoa de Santa Iria and Forte da Casa. The decision, dating from 2023 and signed by sub‑director‑general Ângela Silva Santos, requires no action from taxpayers as the integration is automatic.
