Portugal tourism revenue reaches €12.87 billion in H1 2026

Tourism revenue in Portugal reached €12.87 billion during the first half of 2026, marking a 4.2% increase compared to the same period in 2025. According to data from the Banco de Portugal, the sector continues its expansionary trend, despite monthly volatility. Revenue peaked in May at nearly €2.74 billion before slowing to approximately €2.538 billion in June.

Brazilian tourists significantly contributed to this growth, spending €657 million (approximately R$ 4 billion) in the first half of the year. This represents an 18% increase over the previous year, with spending rising by €100 million year-over-year. While Brazilian travelers rank behind European and North American tourists in total volume, their spending growth rate was notably higher. Factors such as visiting family, returning to preferred locations, and exploring new cities are cited as primary motivations for this demographic.
