Portugal tourism revenue rises to 2.1 billion euros in Q2

Portugal's tourism sector saw total revenue increase by 5.2% to 2.1 billion euros during the second quarter. According to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE), the number of guests rose to 9.4 million, while overnight stays reached 23.3 million.

In the Madeira region, tourism activity grew at a more moderate pace, with approximately 3.5 million overnight stays, a 1.9% increase compared to the previous year. While international stays saw a slight decline of 0.2%, the domestic market in Madeira grew significantly by 12.3%.

Additionally, the Labor Cost Index in Madeira rose by 5.6% in the second quarter of 2026, slightly exceeding the national average increase of 5.4%.
