Portugal tracking poll shows PS lead grows as AD support declines

The latest tracking poll conducted by Pitagórica for TVI, CNN Portugal, and Nascer do Sol reveals a shift in political intentions in Portugal. The Socialist Party (PS) strengthened its leadership, rising 0.8 percentage points to 29.4%, while the Chega party maintained its position at 27.9% for the third consecutive week.

In contrast, the Democratic Alliance (AD), led by Luís Montenegro, saw a decline of 1.2 percentage points, falling to 21.6%. This drop increases the gap between the governing coalition and the two main opposition parties. Regarding leadership preferences, José Luís Carneiro has overtaken Luís Montenegro as the preferred choice for Prime Minister.

The poll also highlights challenges for the current government, with 60% of respondents expressing disapproval of the Executive's actions, partly attributed to the ongoing housing crisis. Additionally, only 56.2% of those who voted for the coalition in the 2025 legislative elections stated they would vote for them again.
