Portugal Women's U19 Handball Team holds first training camp in Melgaço
The Portugal National Women's U19 Handball Team will hold its first training camp of the season in Melgaço from October 20 to 25. The squad consists of 16 athletes, marking the first joint training period for this generation.
Several clubs are well-represented in the call-up, including CJ Almeida Garrett with four players, followed by ABC de Braga and Gil Eanes with three players each. CALE and SL Benfica also contribute two representatives each. The squad features six changes from the team that competed in the 2026 IHF W18 World Championship, including the promotion of several players to the Senior National Team.
The technical staff is led by national coaches Sandra Fernandes and Sofia Osório, supported by assistant coach Natália Santos and physiotherapist Afonso Braz. Osório noted that the primary goal of this camp is to observe new talent and begin preparations for the European Championship.
