Portugal women's volleyball team reaches EuroVolley round of 16

The Portugal women's national volleyball team has achieved a historic milestone by qualifying for the round of 16 at the European Championship. This marks an unprecedented feat for the team in only their second appearance in the final stages of the tournament.

In a decisive Pool C match held at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku, Portugal secured a 3-2 victory over Romania with set scores of 15-25, 26-24, 20-25, 27-25, and 15-13. The match lasted 2 hours and 53 minutes, showcasing significant resilience after trailing at various points.

By finishing fourth in their group, Portugal advances to the next phase in Istanbul, Turkey. They are scheduled to face the winner of the match between Poland and Turkey at the Sinan Erdem Sports Hall on August 31 and September 1.
