Portugal workers favor flexible work models as key hiring factor
A recent Hays Portugal study shows that the majority of Portuguese employees now view the work model—whether on‑site, remote, or hybrid—as a decisive element when assessing new job opportunities. According to the survey of 539 workers, 87% consider the work arrangement a "very important" or "top priority" factor, while only 6% regard it as irrelevant. Twenty‑two percent of respondents have already turned down job offers that did not include the possibility of remote work.
The research also highlights the perceived benefits of hybrid arrangements: 72% say hybrid work improves the balance between personal and professional life, and just 2% view the model negatively. Employers are urged to incorporate flexibility into their value propositions to attract and retain talent amid competition across sectors such as technology, engineering, finance and health.
