Portugal's Assembly Permanent Committee to meet without interior, education and justice ministers
Portugal's Assembly of the Republic confirmed that its Permanent Committee will convene during the summer recess without the ministers of Internal Administration, Education or Justice. A leaders' conference rejected Chega's request to summon Interior Minister Luís Neves and Justice Minister Rita Júdice, after PSD and CDS‑PP voted against the motion. President José Pedro Aguiar‑Branco said the committee will proceed without those ministers, noting parliamentary groups lack the authority to compel government members to appear.
The Socialist Party adjusted its request, proposing that Education Minister Fernando Alexandre be heard on issues concerning exam corrections, which may be scheduled for a later session. The decision reflects procedural constraints rather than a substantive policy dispute.
