Portugal's Brisa to invest €500 million in road link to new Alcochete airport

Brisa, Portugal's leading highway concessionaire, announced a €500 million investment to build a new road connection to the future Alcochete airport. The project aims to improve access for passengers and freight, support expected growth in air and road traffic, and stimulate industrial development in Alcochete and surrounding areas. Brisa says the link will create local jobs and incorporate sustainable construction practices to reduce carbon emissions.

Brisa’s owners – the Dutch pension fund APG and Swiss Life – also benefit from strong dividend payouts from related toll‑road operators. In Spain, Audasa, which operates the AP‑9 motorway, distributed almost all of its €100 million profit as a dividend to its parent Itínere, itself owned by APG and Swiss Life. Brisa plans a similar dividend from its 2025 earnings, amounting to about €125 million. The parallel financial results underline the profitability of the Iberian toll‑road networks under the same shareholder group.
