Portugal's Dão and Douro Wine Events Celebrate Top Vintages

The 17th edition of the "Os Melhores Vinhos do Dão" competition announced its winners at a ceremony in the Museu do Vinho e das Artes in Santar. A record 176 wine entries submitted by 41 producers were judged by journalists, sommeliers, and enologists. The Adega Cooperativa de Silgueiros' Morgado de Silgueiros Touriga Nacional 2023 earned the "Best Wine in Contest" title and shared a Platinum medal with other top‑scoring wines. Eight wines received Grande Ouro medals across red, white, and sparkling categories, highlighting the growing quality of the Dão region.

Meanwhile, the 24th edition of Vindouro – Wine & History | Festa Pombalina took place in S. João da Pesqueira from 4–6 September 2026. Recognized as the National Event of the Year by the Associação de Municípios Portugueses do Vinho, the festival attracted over a hundred Douro and Porto DOC producers and thousands of visitors. Historical reenactments, a traditional Pombaline market and dinner, and concerts featuring Rui Veloso, Carolina Deslandes and Richie Campbell underscored the celebration of Portugal’s wine heritage.
