Portugal's ESTAMO completes inventory of 60,000 state-owned properties

ESTAMO, the Portuguese public real‑estate management company, has finished the systematic identification of 60,000 state‑owned properties, achieving the target six months before the deadline. The next phase will add properties held by public institutes, raising the total inventory to around 80,000 assets by the end of 2026. The programme is presented as a way to increase the value of public heritage and to support the government’s housing‑affordability policies.

The completion is part of a broader effort by the Portuguese government to improve the efficiency of state resources and to combat the housing crisis through the potential sale, decentralised management, or conversion of public assets into affordable housing.
