Portugal's July religious festivals attract visitors and prompt traffic adjustments

The town of Regilde will host the Festas em Honra de Santa Comba from July 16 to 20, featuring a five‑day program of music, fireworks, religious ceremonies and performances by artists such as Johnny Abreu, Daniel Faria and local DJs. Organisers expect hundreds of visitors for the celebrations, which include a solemn Eucharist, a procession in honor of Santa Comba and nightly fireworks displays.

In Coimbra, the annual Procissão da Rainha Santa Isabel takes place on July 9. The PSP has announced temporary traffic closures and diversions on numerous streets and roundabouts along the procession route, urging motorists to follow police directions and use alternative routes. The event runs from 16:30 to midnight and includes a series of religious observances.
