Portugal hosts a series of free summer festivals and cultural events in July‑August

A wave of free cultural programmes is taking place across Portugal this summer. In the town of Santarém, the Noites de Verão 2026 will return to Praça Salgueiro Maia with four evenings of music, dance and a special ABBA tribute, culminating in a "Noite Branca" featuring DJ Miguel Simões. The Feira das Carraças returns to Almargem do Bispo from 10‑13 July, offering live music, classic‑vehicle parades, traditional roast pork and local gastronomy. In the west of Guimarães, the Cacarejo N’Aldeia festival runs 23‑26 July on four village stages, presenting acts such as Let the Jam Roll, Gobi Bear and Carlos Sanches, with a new “green stage” and free entry. Lisbon’s Avenidas Novas district launches the Avenidas Hot Jazz series, presenting free concerts on six dates in July and August, organized by the Hot Clube de Portugal. Throughout the country, cineclubs also schedule outdoor screenings and special sessions, enriching the summer cultural calendar.
