Portugal's Local Communities Open Participatory Budget Votes in Ferreira do Zêz and Baião

In the parish of Ferreira do Zêz, the participatory budget commission approved two projects for public voting until 15 August. Residents can vote in person at the parish office or online. The proposals are: “Fisioterapia e Animação de mão dadas” by Santa Casa da Misericórdia, aiming to acquire equipment for physiotherapy and animation sessions; and “Ferreira Aprende a Salvar Vidas” by Patrícia Ferreira, a free certified first‑aid and defibrillator training programme for the community.

In the municipality of Baião, the youth participatory budget (OPJ 2026) opened voting until 22 August for residents aged 15‑30. The three finalist projects are: “Sentinelas do Território”, a fire‑risk prevention and community resilience initiative; “Ativa Campelo”, a low‑maintenance calisthenics park; and “Jogos sem Fronteiras”, a sports and recreation event for youth and families. The budget has increased from €11,000 to €15,000.
