Portugal's Praia Fluvial do Ano competition features Sertã and Médio Tejo entries

The Guia das Praias Fluviais is running its annual "Praia Fluvial do Ano 2026" contest, open to river beaches and leisure zones across Portugal. Public voting is conducted online until 31 August, with each user allowed to vote for up to three different sites.

This year 220 sites classified by the Agência Portuguesa do Ambiente are eligible, including 39 in the Castelo Branco district. The municipality of Sertã submits five locations – the Ribeira Grande and Troviscal river beaches and the Boiçô, Marmeleiro and Trízio leisure zones – continuing its presence after receiving the Blue Flag and Accessible Beach awards.

The Médio Tejo intermunicipal area fields 13 beaches from six municipalities: Abrantes (Aldeia do Mato, Fontes), Alcanena (Olhos de Água do Alviela), Ferreira do Zêzere (Lago Azul, Bairrada/Bairradinha), Mação (Carvoeiro, Cardigos, Ortiga), Ourém (Agroal) and Tomar (Alqueidão, Alverangel, Montes, Vila Nova). The competition also includes other nearby zones.
