Portugal's PRR disburses 73 million euros in latest payments
The Portuguese Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) released an additional €73 million last week, raising total disbursements to 59 % of the contracted amount and 60 % of the approved budget. The largest recipients were private companies (€4.636 bn), public entities (€2.706 bn) and municipalities and metropolitan areas (€2.052 bn). Smaller shares went to public companies, schools, higher‑education institutions, solidarity/social‑economy organisations, scientific‑technology bodies and families.
Project approvals now total €24.928 bn, with companies receiving €8.532 bn, public bodies €4.825 bn, municipalities €4.712 bn, public companies €2.751 bn and higher‑education institutions €1.006 bn. Up to the previous Wednesday the PRR had received 516,640 applications, examined 484,346 of them, and approved 384,018 proposals, an increase of 27. The plan aims to foster reforms and investments to revive economic growth, repair COVID‑19 damage and create jobs.
