Portugal's Ribeirinha and Leiria Communities Organize Charity Donation Campaigns

The Ribeirinha parish council on the island of São Miguel revived a clothing and household goods donation drive after a pause caused by building works. Coordinated by seven young volunteers from the OTL group, the campaign, originally set for one week, was extended to July 27 due to high demand from both local residents and people from outside the parish. Donations include clothing, shoes, baby equipment and toys, with the aim of giving items a "second life" and reducing waste.

In mainland Portugal, two cyclists aged 66 and 60 completed a 738‑kilometre ride from Chaves to Faro under the banner "Portugal de Lés a Lés" to raise funds for local charities. Their effort collected €1,530, which was used to provide food supplies to the Centre for Reception of Leiria (CAL). The remaining €1,200 will be converted into twenty chairs for the Oásis association in Leiria, whose furniture was damaged by Storm Kristin. The cyclists thanked supporters and noted that the centre prepares about 70 meals daily for people experiencing homelessness and vulnerability.
