Portugal's RTP, SIC and TVI Secure Free‑to‑Air Rights for 20 World Cup 2026 Matches

The Portuguese public broadcasters RTP, SIC and TVI have reached a joint agreement with FIFA to purchase the free‑to‑air broadcasting rights for 20 matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The partnership will allow the three channels to air the tournament’s opening game, the final and all matches involving the Portugal national team on open television.

Specific group‑stage fixtures for Portugal will be shown as follows: the opening match against the Democratic Republic of Congo on 17 June on SIC, the game versus Uzbekistan on 23 June on TVI, and the clash with Colombia on 28 June on RTP. The tournament’s inaugural match, Mexico versus South Africa on 11 June, will be aired by TVI, while the final on 19 July will be broadcast by RTP. The agreement covers additional key ties throughout the competition, ensuring unrestricted access for Portuguese viewers.

The three broadcasters describe the deal as an unprecedented joint effort to guarantee wide coverage of one of the world’s biggest sporting events and to provide it free of charge to the public.
