Portugal's summer jazz festivals extend through August in Coimbra and October in Seixal

The 17th edition of the QuebraJazz Festival continues in Coimbra with free concerts every Friday and Saturday until the end of August. Performances take place on the Escadas do Quebra‑Costas as part of the municipal "Verão a Dois Tempos" programme. Highlights include guitarist João Freitas leading a quartet, the improvisational collective Kintsugi, and the Funky Remedy Five project that blends jazz and funk. The festival, which began on 12 July, is supported by the CCDR Centro and the Coimbra City Council.

The Seixal Jazz Festival returns for its 27th edition from 8 to 17 October. Organized by the Seixal municipality, the programme features international artists such as pianist Jason Moran, vocalist Christie Dashiell, saxophonist Camilla George, and composer‑pianist Myra Melford, alongside Portuguese projects led by Luís Vicente and Hugo Carvalhais. The festival incorporates visual arts, literature, afrofuturism and cross‑genre collaborations, highlighting the vibrant contemporary jazz scene in Portugal.
