Portugal's Vilar Maior and Videmonte host heritage festivals
The historic village of Vilar Maior in the Sabugal municipality staged its annual “Bons Saberes & Bons Sabores” cultural week from 1‑8 August. Organized by the Association Muralhas de Vilar Maior with municipal partners, the program combined workshops, street theatre, outdoor cinema, yoga, a heritage‑focused “Vilar Maior | Aldeia Rewilding” project and culminated in a Royal Banquet prepared by chef Ornato Antunes.
Meanwhile, Videmonte in the Guarda district held the Festival Pão Nosso from 31 July to 2 August. The three‑day event celebrated traditional bread making, rural culture and intangible heritage with concerts, a “Rota dos Fornos” tour, workshops, a market, and theatrical performances, highlighting local artisans and community groups.
