Portugal's Vinhais Mayor Meets Agriculture Minister Over Fire Damage to Olive Groves

The municipality of Vinhais held a working meeting with Agriculture and Sea Minister José Manuel Fernandes to assess the impact of recent wildfires on the parishes of Rebordelo and Vale das Fontes. The fires destroyed about 50 hectares of olive groves, causing significant economic losses for local producers.

Mayor Luís Fernandes asked the government to accelerate support mechanisms to quickly compensate the affected farmers. The municipal company PRORURIS will prepare a detailed technical report on the damages, which will serve as the basis for future applications for state aid. The minister expressed willingness to monitor the process and ensure a swift response to help restore agricultural activity in the affected zones.
