Brazilian energy firms launch eight sustainability projects on World Environment Day

On World Environment Day, a range of Brazilian energy companies announced eight initiatives aimed at boosting sustainability. Axia Energia operates a 129‑hectare natural laboratory in the Tucuruí hydroelectric reservoir, preserving forest species and producing seedlings. Echoenergia, the renewable‑energy platform of Grupo Equatorial, expands its decarbonisation work by issuing International Renewable Energy Certificates and registering wind farms with the Global Carbon Council. Eneva’s "Raízes de Valor" program partners with the Belterra Institute to restore degraded Amazon areas, increasing farmer incomes. ExxonMobil Brasil invests more than R$325,000 in a waste‑recycling partnership with YouGreen, extending cooperatives in Manaus and Pará. Grupo Equatorial’s E+ Reciclagem platform has recycled 94,000 tonnes of waste across several states, avoiding 304,000 tonnes of CO₂. Neoenergia, through a joint venture with Carbon2Nature, will restore 1,300 hectares of Atlantic Forest in Bahia, generating carbon credits and community benefits. The projects collectively target forest conservation, waste management, renewable energy certification, and carbon‑credit generation, highlighting the sector’s commitment to environmental stewardship.
