Portuguese Academy of Cinema Announces 2027 Oscar Selection Committee

The Academia Portuguesa de Cinema (APC) has revealed the eight‑person committee that will pre‑select Portugal’s entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the 2027 Academy Awards. The members are producer Andreia Esteves, editor and sound‑designer Elsa Ferreira, actor Hoji Fortuna, makeup artist Íris Peleira, director Paolo Marinou‑Blanco, producer Paulo Trancoso, visual‑effects supervisor Ricardo Ferreira and actress Valerie Braddell.

The committee will review all eligible Portuguese feature films released between 1 October 2025 and 30 September 2026, with the selection process concluding by 20 August 2026. APC emphasized gender balance and a broad representation of cinematic professions to ensure a diverse and rigorous evaluation of the national output.
